merry christmas
I'm not really a fan of Christmas
But somehow, no matter what time of year it is, I often find myself singing Christmas songs when I'm in a good mood!
Christmas music is somehow magical.
(though there are certain tunes that have been played so much we're all sick of them)
So I thought I'd gift you all with this link to my friend Mr. Trick's Christmas radio show on Residence FM from a couple of years ago. All that Christmas magic, with non of the usual suspects.
enjoy!

'oversized & underpriced' - group show in berlin

I usually say no when asked to join group shows, unless they are for charity, so you know I'm more than happy to contribute to the Hatch sticker museum show "oversized and underpriced" as one of the charities they are supporting is the Skateistan project - www.skateistan.org

The permanently excited guys at Hatch gave out lots of giant German postal stickers to their favourite artists (and some of my favourites too, like Flying Fortress, Mymo, The Walters, and JUST). I've painted two of these for the show - a London greed worm and some Berlin Bein's.

Private view is on the 17th December, though I'm more likely to check it out on Sunday 20th, as there is free coffee and cake!

can you believe there's a "sticker museum"??? madness! only in Berlin...

ABOVE: homeless not hopeless

Looking to buy some art for Xmas? Then don't buy from me - spend your cash on one of these hand coloured prints by ABOVE, as all the funds go to help a project to help homeless people in Portland, USA.

I read their stories on ABOVE's site. It's fucked up to see old people, people my parents age, living in the street. I stopped giving money to homeless people after seeing a guy I used to help out in London buying drugs, and since moving to Berlin I don't see any real homeless people, just drunk lazy punk kids begging, so I have put the idea of helping homeless people out of my mind (well, apart from building cardboard chapels and painting on matresses!)
Luckily, ABOVE hasn't, and neither should you!

Go check out the links

ekta and dave the chimp - new collaborative works

Here are some photos of The Don Gallery in Milan, where I have a collaborative show with Ekta from Sweden.

To see high quality photos of the work, visit the gallery website: http://www.thedongallery.com/

Collaborations are rare in the art world, where egos rule, but are common in the graffiti scene, where artists regularly go painting together. Yet these collaborations are still ego-driven, with the graffiti writers pushing their name and style, even if they share a colour pallette and background with their collaborators.

Dave the Chimp and Ekta have created collaborations that attempt to drop egos and themes that the artists regularly explore in their solo work. And through doing this they have made works that could never have existed had they worked alone. By combining their ideas, their visions of the world around them, by feeding from each others environments and inspirations, they have attempted to give birth to a third person, an artist who previously didn't exist, but was born fully armed with the skills and imagination of both it's parents.

This theme of birth and creating a third person can be seen weaving in and out of the artworks on display at The Don Gallery, as well in the artists personal lives - Ekta has been a father for a little over a year, and the Chimp is soon to become one. This is no doubt a sub-concious influence. A more concious idea has been their exploration of the god Janus, gifted with the power to see the past and future at once, and often depicted with two faces, one on either side of his head. Janus rears his head(s) in various works, including large canvases, black line drawings, and posters put up in the streets of Berlin and Gothenberg, the Chimp and Ekta's home cities.
